Back with a Bang!

Hi Lovelies,

Hope you are all having a lovely week and managing to catch this gorgeous weather! I thought it would be interesting for you to have a read of what we have been up to, so I’ve written a short blog for you all. Enjoy!

These past twenty months have definitely been challenging for everyone. When the first lockdown was announced last year, we didn't know how the future would look for Jo Ludlow Hairdressing. We missed being with our clients and being in our home from home environment. Once restrictions eased we were back in the salon with new covid protocols to follow, it was strange acclimatising to the new normal but it soon became second nature for us. Our booking system was the busiest it’s ever been and our days were having to be extended to accommodate appointments.

The second lockdown was a shock and soon we found ourselves back to square one but this time we had big plans. I had always wanted to modernise and rebuild the shop front which would allow the interior of the salon to match the exterior. My husband Steve who’s responsible for designing the salon, took on this mammoth task and soon we were looking through very different windows. With days to spare, the frontage was ready for yet another reopening and was soon filled with lighting and pretty Christmas trees.

Our ‘new look’ caught peoples attention and soon our phone was ringing off the hook . By changing the exterior we had opened pandoras box, and we could not believe how many people wanted to book an appointment. It was wonderful but came with extra hours and less sleep. Soon after the build to Christmas, came lockdown three which we were grateful for as our stylists needed a rest.

Inspired from the response to our frontage, we used the time in the final lockdown to design our outdoor seating area. The salon sits directly on a main road within the village, so it was important to create an area that separated the road from the building. Once again my talented husband was set to work and created a stylish seating area for our clients. April the 12th arrived and we were inundated with calls for appointments, but there were now more areas to enjoy and admire. The final piece for our project was the sculpture of the two heads. We had this installed a few months after we reopened for the final time.

I am so proud of what we have managed to achieve during this uncertain time and it inspires me to think about the future. I love my clients and my happiness is the salon. I feel the facelift has not only given a new lease of life to the salon but also to myself and my stylists. Our environment feels so much brighter and I now relish in filling our windows with beautiful botanical indoor plants to compliment our colour pallette.

Our phone continues to ring continuously and we now have a waiting list for new clients. Jo Ludlow Hair is going from strength to strength and we are having the best time. Don’t forget we have a full licensed bar, so feel free to pop in and say hello!

Love Jo x
